                         Waste Stream Pilot

We are currently seeking candidate businesses to participate in a pilot program focusing on energy conservation and waste stream management.

The purpose of this pilot is to demonstrate that businesses can significantly improve their profitability through energy and waste stream conservation strategies.

By focusing on these areas, we have helped our clients
realize savings and improvements ranging from 20% to 75% and more.  Data collected from the pilot will be used in support of the establishment of a funding pool to help small business to adopt the same strategies available to larger companies.

Every business uses energy, be it electricity, gas or oil.  Aside from attempts to obtain good vendor pricing, typically little consideration is given to identifying opportunities to manage and reduce energy use and thereby reduce energy costs.
Likewise, every business generates some kind of waste.  Whether it is paper and cardboard, pallets, scrap materials, manufacturing by-products, or hazardous waste, businesses typically pay minimal attention to how waste is handled or the true costs associated with their waste stream.
The benefits to pilot participants will be:
  • Identification of opportunities to reduce operational costs and improve cash flow

  • Analysis of energy usage and opportunities to flatten demand, reduce energy requirements, and reduce related costs

  • Analysis of waste stream components, waste disposition, and opportunities to reduce waste output, scrap, and related costs

  • Analysis of opportunities to increase recycling, substitute less costly or environmentally neutral materials, and reduce waste management costs
      • Indentification of potential incentives, tax credits, grants, and funding offsets related to the implementation of identified conservation opportunities
Understanding how your business utilizes energy and deals with its waste stream, you can implement strategies to reduce related costs and take advantage of various incentives, tax credits and additional revenue streams that can improve your bottom line.

By focusing on these areas, we have helped our clients
realize savings and improvements ranging from 20% to 75% and more.

We are accepting ten (10) candidates in each of the following industry sectors:
  • Manufacturing
  • Medical / Dental / Health Services
  • Banking / Financial Services / Insurance
  • Printing / Publishing
  • Warehousing / Distribution
  • Retail / Restaurant / Spa

Potential candidates must use more than 45,000 kWh of energy per month (about $5k/month) and/or generate production scrap, waste oils, use compactors, dumpsters or waste haulers.

Businesses with wide variability in energy usage (uneven bar heights on their utility bill energy-use graph) would make good candidates as their energy costs are higher than they need to be.

                   The Process

First, we perform a detailed analysis of where, how, and why you utilize energy within your business, and identify opportunities to reduce both the amount and the cost of the energy that you use.

Then we analyze your entire waste stream from point of generation through final disposition.  This will allow us to identify opportunities to reduce the amount of waste, substitute more environmentally-friendly components, increase recycling, and reduce permitting, and handling costs.  We will also monitor your waste stream for a period of five (5) years to help minimize future cost increases.

Upon completion of our investigations, we will provide you with an assessment of your energy and waste stream footprints, along with our recommendations to reduce your costs and improve profitability.

     The Bottom Line

The net cost of participating in the pilot is zero.

There is a nominal fee, depending on the type and size of your facility, associated with the energy portion of the program.  However, the various energy conservation and cost reduction opportunities that will be identified will more than offset this small cost.  If the identified savings don’t exceed the fee, we will refund it.

As for the waste stream portion of the pilot, we share in the identified cost reductions that we capture for you.  If we don’t find a way to significantly reduce your waste stream costs, you pay us nothing
